 4. Elliptical trainers are similar to the treadmill, they are designed to mimic the human gait during movement. But compared with treadmills, this machine does not require your feet to leave the pedals which makes it feel like you’re running on a cloud. Elliptical exercise machines are recommended for people suffering from lower limb injury or arthritis. The drive system in an elliptical machine is the mechanism by which it applies resistance during exercise. There are two basic types: The front drive and rear drive.

5. Treadmills are probably the best seller among types of cardiovascular exercise machine. This machine offers an ideal way to increase your cardiovascular capacity, burn calories and strengthen your lower body by allowing you to walk and run. Unlike walking or running outside, exercises with treadmills minimize the load on your joints. The shock is absorbed by the cushioned treadmill deck. If you are overweight or have joint problems, fitness experts recommend looking for a deck with more cushioning, preferably 18 inches wide or more.
