Can a Cardio Exercise Equipment Boost Your Metabolism?

Along with healthy diet and lifestyle, cardiovascular exercises such as walking, cycling, running or jogging can increase your heart rate and improve your body’s metabolism. Cardio exercises can be performed indoors or outdoors. If you’re a busy person, you might prefer an indoor training (in a gym or at home) than outdoor education. Here is a brief overview of the most popular types of cardio exercise equipment you can use or buy to improve your overall health:

1. Treadmills – This machine can let you exercise in different forms: walking, running or jogging in a smooth, very predictable terrain. Treadmills provide a wide range of choice and can be programmed depending on your needs. If you are just starting out, you can go at a slow pace on a flat surface. As you progress, you can either speed up or tilt so you can burn more fat and keep the pulse in the needed zone.

If compared to running outside, a treadmill pulls the earth under your feet, so running is made somewhat easier. The damping cushioning of treadmills helps minimize the load on your joints. If you want to run on the treadmill, it is best to look for one that has speed up to 10 mph and a longer deck to accommodate a longer stride. To walk on the treadmill, it is advisable to look for one with a maximum speed of 5 mph and a deck that is of average length.

2 Elliptical – an elliptical trainer, you can do a workout as intense as running or cross country skiing but without any of the effects. Elliptical trainers are not weight carriers, so it is gentle on joints and provides a very fluid movement.

Elliptical trainers offer a variety of configurations. If you want to simulate walking or running on hills, it is best to try a machine that has an inclination option. If you want to adjust the intensity of your workout, you pedal faster, raise the inclination and increase the resistance or use any combination of machine functions.

3 Stationary Bikes – This cardio exercise equipment specifically designed for cycling, which is considered by many fitness experts as the safest cross-training activity. Stationary bikes are not weight bearing and can really help increase your stamina. Stationary bikes come in two varieties: Upright and recumbent. Upright bikes imitate a normal bike while recumbent bikes let you sit in a slightly reclined position.

If you want a more steady pace, fat-burning workout, you can maintain the resistance on your bike rather low and spin the pedals faster. If you think you are already in advanced phase and your stationary bike has been pre-programmed functions, you can try the hill-climbing or interval option to increase calorie burning. You can also try to simulate climbing a hill by manually increasing the resistance for a couple of minutes and then reducing it.

According to the book “Make Over Your Metabolism” by Robert Reames, you can “manage your weight, shape, and the appetite through a time-efficient, fat burning exercise plan, a very simple diet plan that will optimize your metabolism and lifestyle strategies that will help correct red flags that interfere with a healthy metabolism. ” “Although it is true that the use of cardio exercise equipment in carrying out training for the metabolism and overall health improvement, you have to remember that too much cardio is bad for your health.

Thus, many fitness experts recommend a 30-minute cardio workout is enough to keep the metabolism healthy.
